Lamentations for a ‘Dead’ Friend
No calls, no text, no visit.
No condolences!
When her world crumbled,
His absence weighed as heavy
As her Amuche’s death.
Like Brutus, his nail was the last in the coffin.
His dagger, unlike the rest,
Struck straight through
Daggered him straight into
The waiting arms of his creator
How people change!
From charming to stone-hearted.
“What religion cannot do, does not exist,”
Yet your selfish heart was the loophole needed. And boom, you were gone.
Erased.
Your name, your presence,
A faded “once upon a time.”
Your smiles, evaporated.
So hoodwinked, you denied your own blood.
And she became your Chief Jezebel.
What happened to you, Nek?
Even a twisted name cannot heal
Her broken heart.
Though it’s pacifying.
You were a shining star.
Almost the brightest.
Playful to a fault,
Garrulous, but a giver of smiles.
Even the alias she bears today, you crafted.
For heaven’s sake, you are forgiven.
And to forget? That is tit for tat;
A double portion of your own pill awaits you.
Yet, you are loved, and you are prayed for.
Only for heaven’s sake.
Better to stay away when the scales
of hatred, foolishness and selfishness
Finally fall from those bulgy eyes.
Because, as they say,
Things will never be the same again.
