Three South African suspects were arraigned in court on Monday, February 16, 2026, in connection with the gruesome murder of 22-year-old Nigerian e-hailing driver, Isaac Satlet.
The suspects, Dikeledi Mphela (female), Gotseone Machidi, and McClaren Mushwana appeared in Pretoria Central Magistrate Court, while a fourth suspect reportedly surrendered voluntarily.
The arraignment was met with solidarity from Nigerians and South Africans, who gathered outside the court in large numbers.
The move was welcomed by Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) Chairman Abike Dabiri-Erewa, who had demanded justice and swift prosecution of those involved.
Dabiri-Erewa had expressed concern over the increasing rate of criminality and killings of Nigerians in South Africa.
The suspects were caught following an investigation led by South African police, aided by dashcam footage from Satlet’s vehicle which helped identify the female suspect, Dikeledi Mphela.
Her arrest led to the identification and subsequent arrest of the other suspects.
The fourth suspect reportedly turned himself in.
