…total number of rescued victims hits 163 since July

Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has facilitated the return of 13 Nigerians rescued from human traffickers in Ghana, with support from the Nigerian High Commission and other stakeholders.
The returnees which included 11 adults and two babies according to NIDCOM’s spokesperson, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, brings the total number of repatriated victims to 163 since July.
The 13 girls, aged 19-30, were deceived by false job offers and trapped in exploitative situations. They hail from Ebonyi, Benue, Kaduna, and Rivers states.
The operation involved Ghanaian Anti-Human Trafficking Police, Rescue Live Foundation International, and NIDO Ghana, with NIDCOM’s support.
Excited about the successful rescue mission, NiDCOM’s Chairman/CEO, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, thanked stakeholders for their efforts, emphasising NIDCOM’s commitment to protecting Nigerians abroad under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The victims surrendered voluntarily after learning of previous rescue missions in Ghana. Rescue Live Foundation International/NIDO Ghana provided temporary shelter before their return.
The rescued victims who were reportedly lured to Ghana with promises of employment but forced into exploitative situations, received medical care and mental health support due to serious health conditions, in addition to support from the First Lady Sen. Oluremi Tinubu and NIDCOM.
Hon. Dabiri-Erewa who applauded the Nigerian High Commission in Ghana for facilitating their safe return. warned young Nigerians about risks of irregular migration and unverified job offers abroad.
